Nicky Morris, Owner & Certified Feng Shui Consultant, Red Door Dwellings
My career originally began as an interior designer, graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) almost 20 years ago. During this time, I also developed my love of photography, which I continue to do today as a freelance photographer. After college, I worked for commercial interior design firms in Baltimore and Chicago, and have taught art both at the college and elementary school level.
As my career has evolved, I’ve found myself invigorated by a passion for Feng Shui. With my unique skills as a designer and an artist, I can bring you a truly refreshing and creative approach to your home or business through a Feng Shui consultation.
When I’m not working, I enjoy having fun with my husband, two lovely daughters and our dog, Willie. You can often find me chasing after them with my camera in hand!
Background & Philosophy
Ever since I was a kid, I could tell when a room or space felt “off.” I didn’t always know how to fix it, but I could feel it. I would often spend time thinking of ways to rearrange a room to make it feel better and sometimes I would actually do some rearranging or redesigning.
Because of this interest in room design, I went to college to be an interior designer. My goal was to design spaces that people enjoyed being in and felt good in because it was the psychology of the environment that I found most alluring. The reality was that the professional world of interior design does not focus on creating spaces that really nourished you.
I had heard of Feng Shui back in my college days, but I thought Feng Shui wasn’t for “real” designers and was just a bunch of superstitious nonsense.
In the last couple of years, as I was working through some health issues and stressful times, I kept coming across Feng Shui or people would mention it to me. It started happening so often that one day I finally decided to get a book on it so I could find out what this Feng Shui stuff was all about. I had this great revelation as I realized that I had been doing Feng Shui all my life, I just didn’t know that it had a name! Feng Shui was my answer to helping create spaces that people felt good in.
After my epiphany, I read a lot more and eventually enrolled in the Western School of Feng Shui run by Terah Kathryn Collins and became a certified consultant in Essential Feng Shui®. Becoming a Feng Shui practitioner was one of the best decisions of my life.
Now I have all the tools I need to help my clients create those spaces that nourish them and make them feel happy. I’m ready to help you too!
